How this visualisation series came to be.
This last Christmas I was standing at the top of a ski hill poised to take a video of my friend as she tobogganed down the hill. As she waited for people before her to get moving, I readied my camera. I heard a voice in my head saying “she should rather start from over there” and my eyes moved to a spot about two meters to the left from where she was. I ignored myself, I wish I had not.
As I filmed her take off, she quickly gathered speed and tumbled over. I had just caught on camera my friend breaking a couple of ribs and me ignoring my inner knowing!
As we sat waiting for xrays and she was in so much pain I wondered to myself, “if I had said something, would this have turned out differently?” Well, I guess we will never know but next time I hear that voice I will listen.
I have begun consciously nurturing a better connection with myself. It has been a gradual desire of mine to expand my tool box, to access the wealth of wisdom I have available to me. It has also been a practice in patience as nothing ever happens in the time frame that I would like it! I have also had to sift through expectation of how I though it would go.
I imagined this loud booming voice from the sky shouting pearls of wisdom at me… but instead I have been noticing a quiet voice of reason gently guiding me here and there. It has really been more of an exercise of learning to trust myself and the guidance I hear. I have also been working on changing the narrative in my head to one of encouragement and love. We should always speak to ourselves like we speak to someone we love. Stop judging ourselves for our perceived failures and start congratulating ourselves for showing up. It’s a good place to start.
What I feel to be true for me, is that we already hold all the answers we need. If we can make the time and the space to quiet the distractions and inner critic and connect, we can access the wealth of knowledge with in. This knowledge comes from lifetimes of soul experiences and includes wisdom from our guides and ancestors. I now no longer believe that I am alone even when I feel alone, nor do I believe we are alone in this experience of life. I believe we come from a place of infinite love and that we are supported, guided and watch over by our spirit guides, master teachers and ancestors. All our experiences are for our highest good and for our soul’s purpose. Consciousness is what makes us human, we make choices and these experiences are what allows us to grow and expand. A little out there perhaps for some and maybe not enough for others but this is what feel to be true for me.
This realisation that I am not actually alone has started to comfort me in moments of sadness. In those moments when I have felt “alone”, in fact I have not been, it is a conversation that does require me to be open to hearing my souls voice and that of my guides and ancestors, but until the lines of communication are fully open, I can feel comforted by the idea that they are there. In fact, trust that they are there and feel comforted by the idea as I face new challenges in my life. All is happening for my highest good and when I am ready to listen, there is loving guidance available to me.
So, as I meander along this path of nurturing a greater connection with myself, I decided to share the tools I create for myself with my community: If this is my experience, there must be others out there that feel the same! It is why I started my practice called Art of Inner Knowing and how this visualisation series came to be. Art making is the perfect container for subliminal communication because it is expression. If you dialogue with your art, you can uncover what your expression aka inner knowing has to offer. We are able to “hear” our subliminal conversations.
Colour is light and it is measured in wavelengths and these wavelengths are received as vibrations. These vibrations or waves have a biological effect on our body therefore colour is communicating with us through our bodily functions. Its really quite magical in my opinion. Our minds are so very powerful, so why not use them to enhance our quality of life. Visualisation is one tool that can do just that. It is however a practice we need to nurture. Just as one should train as an athlete, we need to train or attune our connection to self. The more we do these practices mindfully (with purpose) the easier and better we will become at “hearing”.
