We have all lived on Lover’s Lane just as we have all lived on Heartbreak Hill. As deeply as I have loved, I have felt heartbreak. There have been moments when I have sworn to myself, I shall never love again, just to sooth my breaking heart, for as strong as the love was, the heartbreak would equal. I am grateful that I have this capability; to feel and to love so much, it is what makes me human. However, I will be honest it has been a long time since I have been in-love or had a heartbreak for that matter.
As I sit in this space, it is easy for me to reflect on the highs and lows of love and loss. I feel that the deeper I have been in love, the deeper the pain of loss: for how can we know love if we do not know heartbreak! Admittedly my youth was filled with extremes however life has moved on because there is life after heartbreak and no shortage of love around us.
With that being said, I am committed to imprinting a few pearls of wisdom on my maturing self: Oh, how my heart has been wounded by love, especially when I have mixed desire, expectation and reality together. It has been my expectation of love that seems to hurt the most. We cannot expect of people, places and things what they are not capable of. This is not unconditional.
When the soul emerges for its human experience, we are limited by our physical form. It is not for lack of desire or will but more that we are human and human beings are flawed. We are here to have experiences, to see, to learn, to give and to receive. It is not that we cannot give enough love but rather what we are capable of in that moment. For this we need to have compassion for ourselves and others.
I forget sometimes that I come from unconditional love. It is my divine right, my connection to source; love is always there and always available. In the arms of my soul, I have unconditional and compassionate love available to me. If I searched for spiritual love rather than the love of others, perhaps I wouldn’t find such heartache?
In the absence of love v heartbreak, I have instead been learning to love myself. A complicated mirage of two steps forward and one step back but I do feel I am getting to know myself and what my desires are. Sifting through old habits that essentially were put in place to protect me but are no longer needed. It really has been a bit of a closet clear out, letting go of a few of my favourite pairs of jeans that served me well but just really don’t look good on me anymore. Ask yourself: if you had a Genie in a bottle, what would you wish for? Go out and make that happen, let nothing stand in your way, not even an old pair of jeans!
I remind myself to love with ease and flow, it is not in short supply because it freely flows through me and around me. Stop struggling against love, tell love you love it often. I am committed to bringing more experiences into my life where I experience love because the more, I physically experience love then the more I will orientate myself toward this vibration. Imagine how different my experiences will be? I want to live in a world where love feels like home. It’s a love that anchors me to the ground, connecting me to the universe.
My Heart Chakra visualisation has helped me nurture this desire to have more experiences with love so that I may know this vibration and continue to orientate myself toward love. The heart chakra is also known as Anahata.
