Project "Play Space"
Children learn about their emotions and how to relate to them by reading other people's facial expressions and watching how adults have conversations. This face-to-face interaction is the primary way they gain knowledge. Children need to experience the world around them, to accommodate new ideas, construct an understanding of the world and to understand what they already know.
It's no secret we do not fully understand the effects of smartphones on our children's brain development. What we do know is that they have access to information via the internet that they didn't have before and they depend on smartphones for social (and emotional) connections.
Using the arts creates a space for children to access their creativity and learn vital skills to help them understand their emotions, build resilience and overcome life challenges.
I have created workshops to do just that.
